Dr. Joanna Lee is an Australian-trained and qualified neurosurgeon; who operates out of Mater Hospital (North Sydney) and holds an appointment as both Neurosurgeon and Pain Fellow at Liverpool Hospital. With interests in general neurosurgery (spine, neuro-oncology) and pain medicine (spine, neuromodulation).

Having spent 2 years studying Biomedical Science at Monash University before completing her undergraduate medical studies at the University of Melbourne, Dr. Joanna Lee then undertook advanced neurosurgical training in Sydney, obtaining a Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (RACS) fellowship in Neurosurgery in 2014.

As part of Dr. Joanna Lee's further studies to help her patients' she is completing a Fellowship in Pain Medicine at Liverpool Hospital; and is a fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (RACS), a member of the Neurosurgical Association of Australia and member of the International Association of Pain.

Dr. Joanna Lee is dedicated to providing an advanced understanding of neurosurgical conditions and comprehensive insight into diagnosis and treatment options, as well as helping to improve the lives of her patients through innovative, compassionate care. Her typical surgical day includes spinal, cranial, peripheral nerves, and neuro-oncology-type surgery and treatments.

Neurosurgery is vastly complex and as technology and medical knowledge continue to develop, Dr Lee believes skills and knowledge must be advanced through further and continued education. This is why Dr. Lee also spends time as a clinical examiner for the Royal Australian College of Surgeons and is also a sitting member of the Clinical Examination Committee, guiding our next generation of surgeons, setting standards, and developing future clinicians. At Liverpool Hospital, the principal teaching hospital of the University of New South Wales (UNSW) and the University of Western Sydney (UWS), Dr. Joanna Lee is currently responsible for several surgical registrars, junior doctors, and medical students, who are learning from her highly regarded guidance and careful teaching.

Dr. Lee attends numerous local and international medical conferences and workshops to ensure the extension of her skills and knowledge while gaining insight into developments in cranial and spinal surgery. Meticulous and thorough, Dr. Joanna Lee performs monthly audits to ensure the highest standard of care for public and private patients.

After Dr. Joanna Lee leaves the office and operating room, she also loves watching movies with her friends and most of all spending time with her husband and son.
